Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger Joined Anthropic. Here’s Why That’s a Big Deal.

Most critically, he offers much more than his deep technical chops. He helped develop features that made Instagram one of the most used social media apps in the world. In Krieger’s new role as chief product officer, that’s going to be a core skill in the growing fight for dominance among Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama and Mistral.
At Instagram, Krieger was in charge of the engineering team, and he helped launch features like commenting and liking that formed the core of Instagram engagement. He also helped bring chat and Stories into Instagram--two features that keep the app engaging and relevant to users.
Krieger also has a background in user experience design and human-computer interaction, which he used at Instagram and will no doubt bring to Anthropic.
Krieger oversaw tech at Instagram during a period of massive user growth. His experience will be invaluable as Anthropic rolls out more products and features that consumers can use.
